The USsenal Wedding

The ideal of The USsenal Wedding originated from our favourite soccer team. Nevertheless, our favourite team is definitely Arsenal FC.
Alot of my friends asked me :''Why 'USsenal' and not 'Arsenal', was it a typo error'?
Well, the US in 'USsenal Wedding' stands for the 'two of US' as well as 'Unique & Significant' - which represented the feelings towards our relationship throughout these years.

Most importantly, it represented the club that we both loved so much since our dating days.
Arsenal - always Unique & Significant to the both of US. Cheers (''.)

Speech by Ken Hu Jinyuan to the USsenal couple

On our eventful day, the most touching part of the whole event, apart from all the montages, would be the speech made by my brother, Jinyuan.

His presence marked many points of our relationship and therefore, his speech meant alot to us. Finding him to give a speech was one of the best planned item of the night. Infact, not only giving a speech to me, the Bride but also to the groom. This was the trickiest part. Most people had two speeches dedicated to the Groom & Bride separately but we wanted something out of the box. Hence, the decision to ask JY to make just ONE speech but dedicated to us both.

Hereby attached is the speech for the eventful day, by Ken Hu Jinyuan -

Hello everyone. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to share this joyous occasion with us. I am Ken and I am the brother of Karen and now, brother-in-law of Tijin.
When I was invited (more like told lah) to write a short speech about the couple, I thought long and hard about what to say. I tried writing in Singapore’s favourite language hokkien dan xi wa buay hiao leh. Cantonese, ngoh yao um sek. So please bear with me for the next 4 mins and 38 seconds. Don’t worry, next dish will be up soon.
Many of us here know Tijin and Karen by different names. I know them as my zhe zhe and my korkor, some of you know them as Jingjing lao shi and Mr Chua, or Ah hua ye zhar bor kia and Ah jing ye da bo peng you and so on and so forth. But after today, they will be known simply as husband and wife. Sure, to us, it is just about a day’s affair but to them, it is about the beginning of a lifetime together.
Of course, I need to talk about the two of them. I am going to start with my sister because well we grow up together. Growing up, I just think wah my eldest sister and me, generation gap leh. 10 years gap how to talk to each other and true enough, when I was growing up, we talked about 10 sentences a week. I used to think she had her own room, her own tv and even her own computer, very unfair. In addition, I used to think she was very niao, always buy snacks but hide them from me. But her hiding places are always the same few places. And today? Apparently the supposed generation gap doesn’t matter at all because I can tell her anything under the sun. She is now one of my best friends in the world. Now, she makes sure that I get anything I want on earth And anyone that knows her on the personal level will know that the word niao doesn’t even come close to describe her. She is the most generous and giving person I known. Just like my beautiful mother. Sure, growing up with my sister has not always been easy but she is now extremely important to me and is a pillar in my life. Thank you zhe zhe.
I have known Tijin for a good part of my life and he literally watched me grow up. They often bring me along to their pak tau sessions and even though I was a very bright lightbulb, Tijin took good care of me as if I was his younger brother. Til today, this has never changed. We often watch football games together as both of us support Arsenal Football Club which is also the best football club around. Looking back, though I have already been blessed with two great sisters, Tijin was and is the brother in my life.
Tijin and Karen have known each other for 18 years and yet their love continues to grow stronger each day. How do I know that? It’s when I see the little things that they do for one another. For example, my sister who initially knows nothing about football takes time out of her weekend to watch football with him. Many guys dislike shopping yet I never see any unhappiness on Tijin’s face when he is out shopping with my sister. I am very happy to see my sister married to a guy who loves her with his life. Let me tell you something, Tijin snores really loudly but his love for my sister rings even louder.
You may not know but today is Tijin’s birthday. From next year onwards, 16 July will not just be his birthday but also his wedding anniversary. I am sure it is going to be quite hard for him to forget his wedding anniversary for the rest of his life. I wish the couple a blissful marriage and with that said, Happy birthday Zhiren Korkor. Thank you.

P/S : TY Jinyuan for everyting, u r definitely one of the best 'GIFT' God gave us, in-addition to the lovely family we already had.

Huggies \(^.^)/
